Dr. Walid Elmowafi is an experienced Nuclear Safeguards Professional, Senior Regulatory Specialist, and International Expert with a career spanning over 30 years in the nuclear field, including over 16 years at the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) in the UAE. His passion lies in establishing nuclear/radiological regulatory frameworks and emergency response processes on both national and international scales.

Dr. Elmowafi earned his Ph.D. in Nuclear Safeguards Science between 2000 and 2005, in collaboration with the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany. With a background in Radiometric Physics, he has made significant contributions to the field through his work at the Atomic Energy Authority in Egypt and at FANR in the UAE.

A key part of his regulatory work has involved conducting safety inspections at numerous Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) companies that use radioactive sources, assessing their operational processes, and reviewing their licensing applications to ensure compliance with national and international safety standards. Dr. Elmowafi takes pride in his broader role developing nuclear/radiation-related regulations, setting standards for emergency preparedness and response at nuclear facilities, and supervising national emergency planning projects.

In addition to his regulatory expertise, Dr. Elmowafi is an accomplished academic, having served as a faculty member at the Faculty of Science, Mansoura University in Egypt. His skills in organizational management, team leadership, business continuity, decision-making, and negotiation abilities have proven valuable in representing organizations at various events.
