Dr. John Galatas served as the first military allergist and head of the Allergy Clinic at the 401 Army General Hospital for approximately 20 years. Since 2001, he has been deeply involved in CBRNE operations, acting as both a planner and instructor, with experience in live agent training across several countries.
During the 2004 Athens Olympics, he played a pivotal role as Commandant of the Olympic Hospital CBRN Response Unit, managing a team of 80 personnel. Dr. Galatas holds an MSc in “International Terrorism, Organized Crime, and Global Security” from Coventry University, UK, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Athens Medical School, focusing on Forensics & Toxicology. He has been the Editor-in-Chief of the monthly online “C 2 BRNE Diary” since 2005, a publication dedicated to CBRN first responders in over 80 countries.
In addition to his editorial role, Dr. Galatas is a Senior Fellow at New Westminster College, British Columbia, Canada, and serves as a Senior CBRN Research Associate at the Center for Security Studies (KEMEA) under the Hellenic Ministry of Public Protection. He is also a member of the Didactical Board for the International CBRNe Masters programs at the University of Rome “Tor Vergata,” a CBRN consultant at the Emergency Department, Gemelli Policlinico, Catholic University of Sacred Heart, Rome, and manages the CBRN Knowledge Center at the International CBRNE Institute in Belgium. His extensive body of work includes numerous medical and CBRN-related publications, and he is frequently invited to speak at national and international conferences.
